The Cardiology Department provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients. The department provides a full range of non-invasive cardiac investigations and treatments including:- Electrocardiogram, Echo-cardiogram & Stress Exercise Testing.
(ECG) Electrocardiogram :-
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool that is routinely used to assess the electrical and muscular functions of the heart. While it is a relatively simple test to perform, the interpretation of the ECG tracing requires significant amounts of training. Numerous textbooks are devoted to the subject.
(ECHO) echo-cardiogram :-
An echo-cardiogram (ECHO) is a graphic outline of the heart’s movement. During an echo test, ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) from a hand-held wand placed on your chest provides pictures of the heart’s valves and chambers and helps the sonographer evaluate the pumping action of the heart. Echo is often combined with Doppler ultrasound and colour Doppler to evaluate blood flow across the heart’s valves.
Stress Test :-
A stress test can be used to test for heart disease. Stress tests are tests performed by a doctor and/or trained technician to determine the amount of stress that your heart can manage before developing either an abnormal rhythm or evidence of ischaemia (not enough blood flow to the heart muscle). The most commonly performed stress test is the exercise stress test.
